School Education department cautions schools on sale of text books
The School Education department has cautioned schools not to sell text books at higher price than the printed price by affixing stickers
The department in notification stated it is brought to the notice of the School Education department that few schools are selling text books at a price higher than the printed price of the textbooks by affixing stickers. All concerned have been cautioned not to indulge in such unethical practices.
“Further, if a school makes available books, stationery, and uniform items for sale on the school premises then the sale of these items must be done without any coercion on the students/parents to buy the same from these shops,” it stated.
The notification also informed that schools shall not coerce parents/students for buying the books and items from any other specified vendors also.
Appropriate disciplinary action shall be initiated against school heads/management violating the above directives, it stated.
Further, it informed that the DEOs/Sr. SDEOs/SDEOs shall pay random surprise visits to schools under their jurisdiction and ensure strict compliance with the aforesaid directives.
