MOKOKCHUNG — The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) implored the Department of School Education (DoSE) on Monday to immediately intervene in the damage caused to Noklangsangba Government High School in Liremen village under Mangkolemba sub-division.

The AKM informed that on August 27, a devastating landslide severely damaged a portion of the school building including classrooms of standard IX and X students.

In response to this emergency, AKM stated that the school administration temporarily relocated the classes to the assembly hall, which is a “commendable effort to ensure continuity in education.” But the union was also of the opinion that the arrangement is “far from an ideal learning environment.”

AKM pointed out that the assembly hall lacks the necessary infrastructure and facilities required for effective teaching and learning, thereby further jeopardising the academic progress of students.

In this connection, the AKM has implored the department for prompt assessment of the extent of damage to the school building and expedite necessary repairs or reconstruction, to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment for students.

The student body also urged the department to provide interim solutions to mitigate the academic disruptions faced by students and to allocate resources and support to facilitate the smooth continuation of classes.

While maintaining that the safety and well-being of the students are of paramount concern, the AKM went on to state that the natural disaster has disrupted regular classes, leaving the young learners in a precarious situation.

It requested the principal director of School Education to promptly address “this critical issue and ensure the well-being and education of our students.”

Meanwhile, on the eve of Teachers’ Day, the AKM has extended its warmest regards and heartfelt gratitude to all educators who tirelessly dedicate themselves to shaping the future of our society.

“Teacher’s Day holds a special place in our hearts as a moment to recognise and appreciate the invaluable contributions of teachers in nurturing young minds and fostering a love for learning and acknowledge the pivotal role that teachers play in moulding the leaders and innovators of tomorrow,” the union stated.

In a world where knowledge is the foundation of progress, educators are the architects of a brighter future, the AKM stated and further wished all educators a happy and fulfilling Teacher’s Day.
