Guwahati, Nov. 1 (PTI): Assam’s Kamrup (Metro) district that comprises the capital city of Guwahati has successfully accomplished various central and state government schemes in the health, education, social welfare, finance, power and other departments, an official said on Thursday.
Under the national health protection scheme Ayushmaan Bharat, 66000 poor and vulnerable families have been included for the INR 5 lakh per household scheme, Deputy Commissioner Virendra Mittal told reporters.

To reduce the incidence of Rubella and Measles among children, Mittal said he had held discussions with 50 private schools in the district and convinced them to participate in the vaccination drive.

Doctors were also campaigning to create awareness about the advantages of institutional delivery of babies at Sonapur and Kechutoli areas where locals prefer delivery at home, he said. Winning the trophy for the second consecutive year in 2016-17 and 2017-18 for best achievements under the Asha Karmi Incentives Structure, Mittal said the district aimed to win the trophy this year, too.

Disability certificates were issued to 1799 persons and one time INR 5000 per person. For the Gunotsav Assam – the state govt. quality enhancement initiative for bringing about improvement in learning level of students at elementary level – the district this year targeted to test 69040 children from class 2 to 9 in 635 govet. schools against 54837 in 708 schools last year.
