SCHE holds graduation day-cum-alumni meet

DIMAPUR — The Salesian College of Higher Education (SCHE) held its annual graduation day-cum-alumni meet on Wednesday.

An update from the college stated that the programme began with an invocation prayer said by Fr. Dr. Elow Samuel, the rector, while the college principal, Fr. Dr. Paul Punü, delivered the welcome address.

It stated that the special guest and alumnus, Johnny Ruangmei, who is also the joint chief executive officer of the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), congratulated the graduates and emphasised the importance of using knowledge and past experiences to navigate life’s challenges. He also urged students to embrace technology and lifelong learning to compete globally.

“Every challenge in life will have a solution, but if it does not have a solution, it is not a challenge at all,” Ruangmei said.

To succeed in life, he stated that one needs to accept challenges and bring out creative solutions.

On the occasion, the college principal gave away cash award of INR 5000 to Ankita Lakra, a philosophy department topper, for her outstanding academic performance and the best library user award to Alphina Peidah Ng from Political Science department.

It stated that the UG topper in Philosophy, Ankita Lakra, in her speech, expressed gratitude to the faculty for their guidance and to her classmates for their support. She shared personal anecdotes during her time at the college, inspiring her peers to continue striving for excellence.

Other awards included recognitions for highest attendance, and departmental rank holders.

The event featured a performance by fifth-semester students with a song titled “Million Dreams.”

It stated that the graduates were presented with medals and mark sheets by the heads of departments.

The event concluded with closing remarks by Yanvungthung Kikon, head of Political Science department, wherein he expressed gratitude to the chief guest, college authorities, faculty, students and volunteers for making the event a success.
