SCC organises webinar on Indian knowledge systems
DIMAPUR — The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and English department of Sao Chang College in Tuensang organised a one-day webinar on Indian knowledge systems (IKS) on May 30.
The resource person and former principal of DAV (PG) College, Pehowa (Kurukshtra), Haryana, Dr. Kamdev Jha, elucidated on how the Indian knowledge systems comprising Jnan, Vignan and Jeevan Darshan evolved out of experience, observation, experimentation and rigorous analysis.
He stated that reviving IKS in academia and higher education can instill a sense of cultural identity and self-respect among students and scholars, stated an update from the college. He added that IKS can help reconnect with India’s historical roots and ancient scientific developments, fostering a deeper appreciation for indigenous knowledge and its contribution to global thought.
Highlighting on the relevance of IKS, the resource person reminded that NEP 2020 recognises the rich heritage of ancient Indian knowledge and thought, which would be a guiding principle in disseminating the rich legacy of timeless Indian knowledge and philosophy.
The webinar was chaired by Takunpuba Lomou, assistant professor of English and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Lemkhaba Sangtam, assistant professor of Education and member of IQAC.
Altogether, 55 participants attended the webinar.
