DIMAPUR, JUNE 18: The State Bank of India (SBI) on Saturday donated 50 wheel chairs and 50 stretcher trolleys to hospitals and community health centres during a programme held at its Regional Business Office, Dimapur Branch. The items were donated to hospitals and health centres across the state under SBI’s Corporate Social Responsibility Activity (CSR). Gracing the distribution ceremony as the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome, IAS remarked that the CSR activity taken up by SBI is an initiative which is not only timely but relevant in a country like India especially in the health sector which is in a very bad condition with many death still occurring due to maternal and still-birth, and non-communicable diseases. While stating that there is a huge gap in public investment in the country and the per capita income in the health sector is very low compared to developing countries, the DC deliberated that the health sector would need every support from every agency. He expressed optimism that the initiative of SBI would not end but continue to help the sector. Yhome also hoped that the donated materials would reach and benefit the targeted group.SBI chief manager, Lead Bank Dimapur S.B.Bosco said, the bank came forward to help hospitals and CHCs taking into consideration the importance of health sector. Earlier, the invocation was pronounced by director of PINF, Joe Ngamkhuchong while the programme was chaired by SBI manager RCC, RBO Dimapur, T.A.P. Paul.
