Dimapur, March 27 (EMN): Secheku Baptist Church Council under Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) organised elders conference on March 25 and 26 at Sakraba village on the theme “The Lord has help us all the way” 1 Samuel. 7:12.
The elders aged 75 years and above numbering 108 from 15 villages have participated in the programme. The main speaker was Rev. Dr. VK Nuh, former executive secretary CBCC. He spoke extensively on the value of elderly citizen.
Z Lohe, former NLA Speaker, exhorted the gathering on the first night. The gazette officers from 15 villages attended the Sunday Service on March 16.
Deo Nukhu, parliamentary secretary; Kekhwengulo Lea, president Chakhesang Public Organisation; and Kelhizülo Mero, retired teacher; also greeted the gathering. Dutsonü Dazo, 95 years old from Sakraba village, invoked the final blessing in tradition.
Meanwhile, the conference unanimously resolves to declare Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour and shall continue to worship and serve Him alone in gratitude for His mercies and manifold blessings showered upon the successive generation.
The conference resolved to uphold the traditional and cultural values handed down from ancestors which are found comparable within scriptural sphere. The most notable characteristics are the sense of fear, the sense of shame and the sense of taboo.
The conference also resolved to stand against the intrusion of alien culture found detrimental to their faith and way of life into Christendom by affirming that “we are chosen by God, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Nagas out of sheer grace.” It said the present generation and the generations to come will not worship any other idol except the Creator of the Universe God Jehovah.
