DIMAPUR — The biennial Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu (SBAK) Nito Mount (NM) mission conference is underway at Khukiye Lukhai Baptist Church in Satakha on the theme “Nongu ye I Shephemi shi nani” (You shall be my witnesses).

According to a press release, the conference began on April 12 and will culminate on April 14 with Rev. Kughato Chophi, executive secretary of SBAK NM, Dr. Hutton Sumi, pastor of SBCZ, Katoli V Sumi, secretary of the department of Women Ministry, and Vihoto H Awomi, secretary of DoM&E SBAK NM, as conference speakers.

More than 60 missionaries from Bangkok, Bangalore, Nepal, Arunachal Pradesh, Siliguri (West Bengal), Kumargram (West Bengal), Guwahati (Assam), Titabor (Assam), King David School NSBAK, and more than 400 delegates from 148 affiliated churches are attending the conference.

Vihoto, while speaking at the inaugural session, referenced Acts 1:8, emphasising ‘witnessing Christ,’ Matthew 5:16, urging attendees to ‘let your light shine before men,’ and 1 Peter 2:12, encouraging them to ‘do good for others’.

He urged the believers to be kind and humble, emphasising the importance of witnessing Christ in person. He talked about David Livingstone, the missionary to Africa, and called upon the believers to attempt great things for God and expect great things from God. He also discussed William Carey, known as the Father of Modern Missions.

Dr. Hutton Sumi, while speaking on the theme, stressed that witnessing commissions are meant for everybody, not just for missionaries and church leaders. Meanwhile, Tony Y Asumi, NTC lecturer, led the Bible study.
