Sazolie College conducts seminar on Naga society
DIMAPUR — The Postgraduate (PG) History department of Sazolie College conducted a two-day seminar on May 23 and 24 on the theme “Naga society: issues, challenges and prospects.”
The seminar began with a welcome address delivered by Adeno Kithan, assistant professor of History, while the guest of honour and principal of the college, Dr. Gopal Chettri, spoke on the methodology of academic research and encouraged the students to take up research work.
An update from the college stated that the keynote address was delivered by Robin Temsu, Head of MA History department, wherein he presented a comprehensive overview of the Naga society on issues, challenges and prospects. He emphasised the need for a multidisciplinary approach to address the complexities of Naga society.
It stated that a total of 27 students from MA 4th semester presented papers on various topics such as “Naga customary laws vis-a-vis modern legal laws,” “Multiple taxation and Naga society” and “Women reservation in Nagaland.”
The paper presentations was followed by discussions and debates and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Linsenthong, MA IV semester of History department.
Report stated that the seminar brought together faculty members and students to discuss and deliberate on the issues, challenges and prospects of Naga society.
