Kohima, Dec. 14 (EMN): Elaborating that government jobs have reached a saturation point, the project director of Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA), Dr. Hovithal Sothu, called upon the youth to engage in agri and allied activities for survival and be self-reliant.

Speaking as guest of honour at the first conference of Southern Angami Youth Organisation (Sayo) in Kigwema village on Tuesday, Sothu urged the youth to work sincerely in whatever profession they choose saying, “there is no alternative to hard work.”  He also asked the unemployed youth to take up business like their non-Naga counterparts, who are flourishing with their trading activities in Nagaland.

The advisor further reminded the youth to take up sports and music as professions.

Meanwhile, he lauded the Southern Angami Public Organisation (Sapo) and its frontal organisations for protecting the nature in southern Angami region from hunting and fire and other unwanted activities.

Highlighting the scope of tourism related business in the region, Sothu also asked to support the academic institutions in the southern Angami areas, which has some of the best educational institutions in the state.

Zakieleto Tsükrü, Sayo outgoing president, extended season’s greetings on the occasion and informed about the various activities they have carried out to promote Dzükou Valley, a tourist hot spot in the Northeast.

He also updated the potential of generating employment opportunities by preserving the valley. He updated on the growing numbers of tourist guides, porters, lodges etc., to cater the needs of visitors. Tsükrü further informed of its activities to check anti-social elements on the national highway.

Also speaking on the occasion, Sapo president Keriho Kiso, introduced the new team of Sayo office bearers (2021-24) led by Metekhrielie Mejura as the new president. Kiso also reminded the new team members to respect, trust and care for one another while carrying forward the activities of Sayo with visions.

During the event, “Tati Pfhe” was performed by Jubilent Tribal Group Kigwema, while “U Krüü” was performed by Jakhama Youth Organisation (JYO).
