Dimapur, Sep. 3 (EMN): Timely intervention from the Fire and Emergency Service averted a major fire incident, which broke out at M/S Shikuto Sema Saw Mill, 7th Mile Chümoukedima, on September 3.
Speaking to Eastern Mirror, the officer in-charge of Chümoukedima Fire Station informed that they received a call at 4:49 am on September 3, adding that the office instantly formed a quick response team and rushed to the spot. He said that it took around five hours to completely douse the fire.
It was reported that properties and timber worth around INR 40 lakh was lost in the fire. However, due to the timely intervention of the fire personnel, properties worth over INR 1 crore could be salvaged.
The officer in-charge also informed that six fire brigades were pressed into service to fight the fire. It included three from Chümoukedima fire station, two from central fire station and one from west fire station.
The officer in-charge further stated that the cause of fire was yet to be ascertained. He added that there was no report of casualty.
