KOHIMA, JUNE 14: Keeping up with efforts of cleanliness drive in and around ‘Protected Areas’ -National Park, Wildlife Sanctuaries- under Swachh Bharat Mission, a programme on the theme ‘Save Puliebadze Wildlife Sanctuary’ was held at the Puliebadze Wildlife Sanctuary, the major water source to Kohima town.
Speaking at the program, Chief Wildlife Warden of Nagaland, Satya Prakash Tripathi gave a brief background of cleanliness drive under Swachh Bharat Mission and he appealed to the villagers to extend their co-operation in declaring Puliebadze Wildlife Sanctuary under Wildlife Protection Act,1972 so that fund can be availed from the Government of India for surrounding villages towards reducing pressure on natural forest.Wildlife Warden of Dimapur, Caroline Kaurinta, lauded the staffers and villagers on the successful breeding of Blyth’s Tragopan in the area which falls under critically endangered species. She also urged upon the villagers to save and protect Puliebadze Wildlife Sanctuary for continuous supply of water to the citizens of Kohima town.
The ceremony was followed by a tree plantation program. Seedlings were also distributed to public.
