DIMAPUR: School of Agriculture Science and Rural Development (SASRD), Nagaland University, Medziphema campus, conducted a one-day workshop on ‘Hands-on with entrepreneurship’ on March 21 under the initiative of Prof. Akali Sema, pro vice chancellor of SASRD:NU and project in-charge of STINER-TFC, in collaboration with NEDFi, Guwahati, at its multi-purpose hall.
An update from SASRD stated that the workshop was a flagship programme of Advancing North East initiative aimed at capacity building of students from higher education level in terms of practical approach towards entrepreneurship.
The resource persons were Pankaj Periwal, CA and partner in V Singhi & Association as well as senior consultant of Advancing North East, and Bidisha Kalita, junior consultant of Advancing North East.
It stated that three hours physical workshop targeted graduate and post-graduate students from different streams where ranges of activity and interaction based exercises were taken up.
The topics included ‘How to start your business,’ ‘business compliances,’ ‘steps to avail finance,’ ‘dos and don’ts of an entrepreneur’ and ‘expert support on idea and business.’
The students were also divided into five groups where each group was asked to present ideas on their business, its value proposition, cost variables, marketing channels and strategies, human resources, customer segments and revenue streams.
The program was attended by Dr. Abemo, registrar of Nagaland University, as special guest. In his address, he encouraged the students to make full use of the opportunities presented to them, take risk and pursue entrepreneurship as a viable career opportunity.
Report further stated that a total of 132 participants comprising students from Unity College, Mount Mary College, City College of Arts and Commerce, Patkai Christian College, Pranabananda Women’s College, Livingstone Foundation International College, St. Joseph University, Cornerstone College, Dimapur Government College, NU: SASRD, B.Voc students of NU: SASRD and youth from Tseminyu district attended the workshop.
