SASRD organises farmers training at Besempuikam village

A farmers’ training programme was organised by the Nagaland University’s School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development (SASRD), Medziphema, on July 25 in Besempuikam village.
In a press release, the ICAR-AICRP on Sesame, SASRD, NU, Medziphema, informed that it had organised a one day farmers’ training on organic sesame production and input distribution programme at Beisempuikam village.
Head of the department of agronomy, Prof. L Tongpang Longkumer, made a presentation on the importance and scope of organic farming with special reference to Nagaland.
Dr. A P Singh, PI of the project, in his interaction with the farmers shared about “package and practices of organic sesame cultivation” in which he highlighted the objective and need of organic sesame cultivation in Nagaland.
Farmers that attended the training programme were also presented with Vermi bags, quality sesame seeds and small farm implements. Altogether, 60 farmers attended the training programme.
