SASRD organises farmers training and input distribution programme at Renthan village
Dimapur, Dec. 17 (EMN): The School of agricultural sciences and rural development (SASRD), Medziphema campus on Thursday organised a one day Farmers training and input distribution programme at Renthan village, Wokha.
In a press release, SASRD stated that it had organised a “farmers training and input distribution” under the ICAR-AICRP project on Sesame on Dec. 16 at Renthan village, Wokha.
Renthan village is one among the few selected villages under the aspirational districts programme chosen by the government of India for focused development.
The programme was graced by Shri. Meren Chang, ADC, Bhandari as the Special Guest followed by a welcome address delivered by Shri. Tsümomo, village Council Chairman.
Introductory remark was delivered by Dr. A. P. Singh, PI of the project in which he highlighted the objective and need of oilseed cultivation in Nagaland.
Prof. L. Tongpang Longkumer, head of the department of agronomy also made a presentation on the importance of oilseeds in human health.
Package and practices of major oilseeds cultivation was delivered by Viroseno Solo, research scholar, department of agronomy.
Apart from the training, farmers were also presented with small tools and farm implements. Altogether, 50 farmers attended the training programme.
