SASRD hosts workshop on Barc technologies

Dimapur, Mar. 5 (EMN): The department of atomic energy (DAE) technologies organised a workshop on the subject of ‘technologies of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (Barc) for the people of Nagaland,’ on March 2 at the School of Agricultural Science and Research Development (SASRD) at its Medziphema campus.

Altogether 62 trainees from the agriculture extension training (AET) of Integrated Extension Training Centre (IETC) at Medziphema participated in the workshop.

The workshop began with a speech by Dr. NK Patra. He explained the ‘scientific research and societal activities of the DAE.’

The officer gave a brief introduction about the Barc and the domain of work. The work includes nuclear technology, bio-medics, agriculture, food security, environment, health, etc. He highlighted the procedural aspects of getting license from Barc technologies to start enterprises as well as available technologies, updates stated on Tuesday.

During the technical session, use of different technologies namely for domestic water purifiers, ‘foldable solar dryer,’ ‘soil organic carbon detection kit,’ ‘fluoride detection kit,’ and ‘irradiated food items’ were demonstrated.

The participants were encouraged to adopt Barc technologies and start enterprises using said technologies.

The updates informed that interested people can contact either the DTDDF office at SASRD, or access barc.gov.in for further information about the various technologies to start their enterprises.
