SASRD celebrates annual fresher’s social-cum-inauguration of multi-purpose hall

Dimapur, April 27 (EMN): School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development (SASRD) Nagaland University (NU), Medziphema campus held its 26th annual fresher’s social-cum- inauguration of multi-purpose hall on April 23.

An update informed that K Moses Chalai, Secretary NEC, ministry of DoNER was the chief guest along with M Iboyaima Meitei, Advisor (Horticulture) NEC, ministry of DoNER as the guest of honour.

Chalai congratulated the institute on the timely completion of a world class hall and  congratulated the executive engineer, his team and the contractor for their work. In his speech, he spoke on how the younger generation are lucky and privileged to be born in an age where technology is constantly evolving and changing and urged the students to take maximum advantage of it.

He also mentioned how technology has provided tremendous opportunities and how any information can be easily accessed on the internet today. He emphasised on the importance of Industry 4.0 and urged the students to familiarise themselves with robotics, AI , 3-D printing etc.

Informing that his dream is to have a 3-D printing facility in the Northeast, he concluded by stating that everyone should come together and make the state and the country a better place.

Meitei, in his speech, urged the parents to encourage and motivate the students. He also mentioned those involved in framing policies and governance to ensure that the right facilities and opportunities are presented to the students.

Dr. Abemo, Registrar, NU, in his address thanked the NEC for their support and aid in providing the multi-purpose hall to SASRD, NU. He also urged all to take care of the facility and hoped that NEC would continue to support the university.

The freshers’ social programme was chaired by prof. Akali Sema, Dean SASRD. The welcome address was delivered by Shekhozo Vero, president, SU:SASRD.

Pratik Swain and Rajeshree Kundu was declared the Mr. and Ms. Freshers’ 2022 respectively. Other highlights of the programme included special numbers by Silila Thonger (MSc. 2nd Yr) and the EU choir.
