SASA emerge as group champions

Southern Angami Sports Association (SASA) emerged as the overall group champions at the 43rd Angami Sports Association sports meet. The events for games and athletics concluded this afternoon at Kohima Local Ground.
SASA also emerged as the champions in football after defeating Northern Angami Sports Association (NASA) by 2-0 in the final match played at D Khel Ground, Kohima village.
In men’s 4X100m relay race, NASA bagged the gold medal, while SASA bagged silver. In women’s 4X100m relay race, SASA bagged the gold medal and NASA bagged silver.The athletic events held today were 3000m race (men), Long jump (men) and Javelin throw (women).
Day-three will witness the open Naga wrestling exclusively for Angami wrestlers. Altogether, 48 wrestlers will vie for the ultimate title and cash award of Rs 1 lakh. The second, third and fourth position winners will receive Rs 70,000, Rs 40,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively, while the losing quarterfinalists will be given Rs 5000 each.
The inaugural function of Naga wrestling will be graced by Kiyaneilie Peseyie, Minister for Social Security and Welfare & Parliamentary Affairs as the chief guest.
The invocation will be pronounced by Pecüvilie Kruneilie, pastor, Peducha Baptist Church, while the administration of oath will be led by Ketoulekho Ngukha, assistant wrestling secretary, ASA and the vote of thanks by Thinuvikho Khizo, games secretary, ASA.
The referees for Naga wrestling are Kezhalelie Keretsü, Visakholie Chüsi, Neingulie Nagi and Zehoto Kin, while the assistant referees are Pekruneito Krose, Rajukolie Vielie, Visakrol Vitsu and Kekhrievolie Keyho. The field judges are Viliemeto Kehie, Rokokhotso Rino, Thepfulie Lhoungu, Tsopi Live, Vineisa Nagi and Zapani Mekro, while the time keepers are Neikeselie Punyü, Mhiesikholie Niphi and Neilazetuo Khezhie. The recorders are Sithie Mere, Tsilie Zashümo and Menuolie Sirie, while the runners are Avilhou Yhome, Neikedolhou Yhome, Dziesekhotuo Yhome and Kikru Yhome.
The announcers are Neidilhoutuo Sechü and Visasielie Suohu.
The wrestling meet will begin at 9.30 am. It will be played in league-cum-knockout basis.
