SAS celebrates 30th foundation day of Nagaland University
The School of Agricultural Sciences, Medziphema campus, Nagaland University (NU: SAS), celebrated the 30th foundation day of Nagaland University
DIMAPUR — The School of Agricultural Sciences, Medziphema campus, Nagaland University (NU: SAS), celebrated the 30th foundation day of Nagaland University on September 6, with Rev. Dr. Chingmak Chang, founder and secretary of Eleutheros Christian Society, as the foundation day speaker.
Rev. Chang, who has been working hand in hand with the tribal communities in the remotest parts of Nagaland since the 1990s, spoke on the topic ‘Embracing a purposeful life,’ an update stated.
He exhorted the gathering to have a purpose-driven life as it provides a deep sense of fulfilment that goes beyond professional achievement.
“When we are doing the right thing, committed to the cause and stand strongly in what we are doing, even God stands with us. People may or may not acknowledge but as long as we know the purpose that we are called for, we should keep doing it,” he said.
Chang went on to state that a person with purpose enjoys the journey, hardships and struggles, even if there is nothing on the other side.
He further commented that a life which is purpose-driven should have a sense of dependability, integrity, open-mindedness, flexibility, patience and accountability.
Earlier, the programme commenced with the hoisting of the Nagaland University flag by the foundation day speaker, and invocation prayer by Abel Domeh, vice president of Evangelical Union, NU: SAS.
Dean of NU: SAS, Prof. L. Daiho, delivered the welcome address.
Pro Vice-Chancellor, NU: SAS, Prof. Akali Sema, gave an account of Nagaland University and its journey through 29 years of existence.
The pro vice-chancellor also announced the best teacher award of Medziphema campus, which was won by Prof. J Longkumer, best non-teaching staff (Kepelhouno Meyase), best PhD scholar (Imkongsunep Walling) and the best M. Sc student (Alli Rakesh).
Winners of various competitions including skits, painting and essay writing held during the observation of anti-ragging week (August 12 to the 18th), were also feted on the occasion.
NU Lumami celebrates 30th foundation day
Nagaland University, along with all four campuses, celebrated its 30th foundation day on September 6.
During the celebration at the university headquarters Lumami, Zunheboto, Chancellor of NU, Dr. Samudra Gupta Kashyap, delivered the foundation day address.
The university’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Jagadish Kumar Patnaik also addressed the gathering, an update stated.
Prof. Dipak Sinha and Johnny Yanthan welcomed the newly appointed Chancellor, on behalf of the teaching fraternity and non-teaching staff, respectively.
Proper arrangements were also made by the University administration for the programme on all four campuses of Nagaland University.
“There was a moment of appreciation through the token of awards given to distinguished persons in Teaching and Non-Teaching staffs for their outstanding performance,” it stated.
