Sao Chang goes to Sikkim for new horizons

Dimapur, July 3 (EMN): Vocational course students of Sao Chang College in Tuensang went on a trip to Sikkim as part of a Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan programme in collaboration with the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK). The students were on the trip from July 1 to the 3rd, to Gangtok, a press release from the organisers stated on Tuesday.

According to the organisers, the main objective of the programme was to ‘train and equip the vocational course students by exposing them to various technologies used in flower production for skill development and self-employment.’

During the three days programme, the updates stated, altogether 24 students were accompanied by supervisors and a representative from the KVK.

The team visited the Cymbidium Development Centre, Model Floriculture Centre, National Research Centre on Orchids; Saramsha Gardens, an integrated mushroom unit and a rose garden where technical experts interacted with the students. They were also given demonstrations on various technologies during the event, the updates stated.

Certificates and reading materials were distributed to the participants, the press release stated.
