Sanglao and Akuhaito observe ‘Sankalp Saptaah’

DIMAPUR — A week-long aspirational block programme ‘Sankalp Saptaah,’ organised by the Social Welfare department under Thonoknyu ICDS project, got underway in Sanglao village under Noklak district on October 4 on the theme “Sabki Akanshayein Sabki Vikas” (Everyone’s aspirations, everyone’s development).

A DIPR report stated that the event began with short speeches by prominent figures including C Khongo, head gaon bura (GB), and S Puchio, village council chairman (VCC), who expressed their thoughts on the importance of inclusivity and development in the region.

The day was marked with “Millet ki rang birangi thali” recipe competition, which showcased culinary talents and celebrated diversity in food culture. Besides, other activities such as growth monitoring at Anganwadi centeres (AWC), the Annaprasana ceremony, Poshan Mela (nutrition fair), and the village health, sanitation and nutrition day (VHSND), Anaemia screening camp at AWCs were conducted.

The keynote address was delivered by M Lakiumong, child development project officer (CDPO), who shed light on the programme’s objectives and emphasised the importance of holistic development for all.

In another programme, the department of Health and Family Welfare, Zunheboto, observed ‘Sankalp Saptaah’ by organising health mela in Akuhaito block in five health and wellness centres namely Akuhaito, Sukomi, Asukhuto, Lokobomi and Mapulumi villages on October 3.

During the health mela, general OPD check-up, ANC screening, NCD screening, ABHA registration, anaemia testing, immunisation were conducted. Other health services such as laboratory facilities and screening of HIV, Syphilis and Hepatitis, malaria, dengue and tuberculosis were made available to the public.

The health mela was conducted by Dr. Heto Swu, DPO (UIP&RCH), Dr. Mhonchan Kithan, DPO (NCD), Dr. Josia, MO Atoizu, Dr. Gihuka Chishi, MO Kilomi, along with lab technicians and supporting officials and staff of various vertical programmes.
