Dimapur, September 19 : In view of the recent ‘diktat’ of Karbi Longri North Cachar Hills Liberation Front (KLNLF) restricting movement of overloaded sand-laden trucks to Nagaland, allowing maximum 429 cft sand only on NH-36 and 39, the Sand Stockist & Suppliers Union Dimapur (SSSUD) today asked the KLNLF to clarify whether such restriction was only for sand-laden trucks or also for vehicles carrying iron, cement and stones and trailers. A statement issued by SSSUD President, Viniho Shohe and Vice-President, Avishe Zhimo said, if the restriction for overload is not imposed on other vehicles, then the restriction on sand-laden trucks be lifted immediately. The SSSUD and truck owners held an emergency meeting in Dimapur today and discussed about the issue. The union also noted that the KLNLF has asked Nagaland vehicles to cover the sand with tarpaulin and questioned as to why the same has not been asked for vehicles from Assam. The SSSUD has imposed temporary bandh for three days from September 20 to 22 and asked the KLNLF to clarify within three days, failing which the union would impose indefinite bandh on transport of sand. The union has ordered local vehicles to stop bringing sand from Assam till further notice. It also asked the suppliers to bear with the inconveniences.
