Diphu, Oct. 14 (EMN): The Sand Mahaldars Suppliers’ Association (SMSA) on Wednesday refuted the fixation of sand price at INR 32 per cft by mahaldars in Karbi Anglong and Assam Sand Suppliers and Truck Owners' Association Dimapur (Asstoad), terming it as “totally false and baseless”.

It came a day after Asstoad officials announced the new rate of sand and its subsequent decision to lift the total ban on sand supply in Dimapur, at a press conference which was also attended by mahalders from Assam.

SMSA stated in a press release that it had previously agreed, fixed and declared the rate of sand for interstate supply and transportation at INR 42 per cft and it 'still sticks by the declared rate’.

"Asstoad entering into an agreement with individual mahaldar cannot alter nor dictate the rate as it is always fixed by the SMSA, Karbi Anglong, Assam" it stated.

It added that “any individual having an agreement with any other association outside the jurisdiction of SMSA shall be at their own risk and such shall not disturb, hamper the overall business operations and greater interest of genuine mahaldar in Karbi Anglong”.

SMSA has also requested and appealed to the customers and public not to be misled by the 'fabricated news’.
