DIMAPUR — The advisor of Water Resources to NITI Aayog, Yugal Joshi, on Thursday launched the Sampoornata Abhiyan for Akuhaito aspirational block in Zunheboto district at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office as the guest of honour.

Speaking at the launch event, Joshi stated that the aspirational district programme was started in January 2018 with three main objectives focusing on health and nutrition, agriculture, water resource, education, financial inclusion in skill development and infrastructure.

The advisor asserted that the central government launched the Sampoornata Abhiyan with an aim to improve service delivery and governance in the most backward districts and blocks in the country.

In order to achieve the set development goals in those identified areas, he informed that developmental activities would be promoted by Niti Ayog by determining six indicators.

While pointing out that hypertension and diabetes has become a very serious problem, Joshi urged to create awareness to the people and encouraged everyone above 30 years to have a mandatory medical check-up so as to be aware of their health status.

The programme was chaired by Dr. Samuel Akho Konyak, nodal officer and EAC of Atoizu, while the welcome address and pledge was administered by the deputy commissioner of Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, and presentation on Akuhaito block was made by Kivikali Achumi.

Short speeches were delivered by Dr. Samuel Akho Konyak, Dr. Akaho Sema, deputy CMO of Zunheboto, and president of Sumi Hoho, Nikheto Zhimo.

In another programme, MLA and chairman of Kiphire DPDB, C Kipili Sangtam, attended the launch event of Sampoornata Abhiyan for Kiphire aspirational district held at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall in Kiphire town on Thursday.

Sangtam stated that the launch of Sampoornata Abhiyan would mark the commencement of a three-month campaign to accelerate development in under-developed district and blocks.

He appreciated the NITI Aayog team for their good works and for visiting the border area of the district.

Pointing out that Kiphire is one of the remotest districts in the country, Sangtam urged the government departments to work sincerely and efficiently and complete their assigned projects in time. He further urged the government officials to be transparent and accountable in their assignment.

Dr. Shelly Dahiya and Ngayaipam A Shiway also delivered short speeches.

Short film on Sampoornata Abhiyan was screened followed with Sampoornata pledge administered by DC of Kiphire, Temsuwati Longkumer.
