DIMAPUR — The inaugural programme of Sampoorna Suraksha Kendra (SSK) was held at the District Hospital Tuensang on Tuesday.

During the event, DC Tuensang Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa told the gathering that people are unaware of their HIV&AIDS status due to the stigma attached, which leads to them remaining untested, according to an update.

She therefore strongly urged individuals not to be ashamed of sharing their status and called on NGOs to create greater awareness about HIV&AIDS. The DC also assured them that the district administration is always available to help and encouraged them to seek assistance without hesitation.

Project Director of the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society, Dr. Ahu Sekhose, stated in his speech that India is a signatory to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, committing to stop the spread of HIV&AIDS by 2030.

He also explained that SSK is a comprehensive package that provides various services, including those for hepatitis and STDs.

In a short speech, MO and psychiatrist at the District Hospital Tuensang, Dr. Senilo, mentioned that a year ago, dual test screening for HIV&AIDS was introduced for OPT patients.

He noted that three to five people had died in the hospital due to HIV&AIDS. He urged participants to create more awareness to reach the unreachable and remote areas and to work towards removing the stigma associated with the disease.
