Thungchanbemo Tungoe and Naresh Jambulkar along with the trainees after the inauguration of skill upgradation training on handloom weaving in Tuensang on November 15.

Dimapur, Nov. 17 (EMN): A skill upgradation training on handloom weaving under Samarth scheme was inaugurated at District Industries Centre (DIC) office in Tuensang on November 15 in the presence of Thungchanbemo Tungoe, ADC of Tuensang.

Samarth scheme is sponsored by the Ministry of Textile, Office of the Development Commissioner (Handloom), Weavers Service Centre, government of India.

Speaking on the occasion, Tungoe encouraged all the trainees to be serious and attentive. As the training is about skill up-gradation in handloom, he stated that it would focus on small scale unorganised handloom related sector.

He also spoke on the importance of the scheme to upgrade their skills that would directly boost their trade. He stated that the scheme would help build their small-scale industries and subsequently generate employment and lead towards sustainability.

Naresh Jambulkar, assistant director of Weavers Service Centre, Dimapur, has briefed on the objective of Samarth Scheme. He informed that the Samarth scheme would be for 45 days of training, which would cover 315 hours. He added that 80% of attendance would enable them to be eligible for the certification, stipends, and other beneficiaries.

The trainees are assured of INR 300 per day to compensate wage during the time of training, he informed. He also mentioned the Pechaan Card and its importance to the weavers of the district and highlighted the benefits to the cardholders in terms of loans and subsidies.
