Samagra Shiksha Nagaland organises mega parent-teacher meeting
DIMAPUR — Samagra Shiksha Nagaland (SSN) on Wednesday organised a mega parent-teacher meeting (PTM) for the government schools having foundational stage as part of the Nagaland Literacy and Numeracy Fest 2.0 3rd cycle.
The mega PTM was marked by various activities such as singing, display of learning activities, teaching learning materials, games for parents and students, performance display by students, sharing of feedbacks from parents and teachers, an update SSN stated.
It stated that during 2024-25 academic session, Samagra Shiksha/ School Education is conducting Nagaland Literacy and Numeracy Fest 2.0, a micro school improvement initiative in collaboration with Shiksha Lokam, Bangalore, on DIKSHA platform as State Vidya Amrit Mahotsav initiatives to strengthen holistic education in the foundational stage. The NLNF 2024 is being conducted in four cycles.
The mega PTM was conducted in the state for government schools with the objectives to fosters a strong bond between parents and educators, leading to increased trust and cooperation; encourage open dialogue and share responsibility for the child’s education; promotes the child’s social and emotional well-being through a supportive home-school environment; boosts the child’s motivation to learn and enhances their self-esteem and improves the child’s academic performance by providing a consistent and reinforcing learning experiences.
It was also conducted to contribute to higher attendance rates, leading to better learning outcomes; strengthen communication skills within the school community, fostering a positive and conducive atmosphere and create a learning environment that engages, inspires and empowers students.
Besides, it aims to provide opportunities for students to showcase their creativity and talents in the presence of parents; engage parents in fun activities with their children to foster conducive learning environment and strengthen the parent-school partnership through open communication and collaboration.
The report stated that a total of 27713 parents, 5443 school management committee (SMC) members, 10411 teachers and 53359 students from 1355 government schools participated in the mega parent-teacher meeting.
Meanwhile, the Government Primary School (GPS) in Diphupar Angami under Chümoukedima joined the mega parent-teacher meeting at the school premises.
It was informed that there are 26 students from classes 1 to 3 enrolled at GPS Diphupar Angami and one of the best performing GPS under Kushiabill.
During the meeting, school teacher Khrielavonuo asked the parents to provide good environment as well as check their child during study at home. She underlined the important role of parents in educating the child, maintaining cleanliness and behaving properly by respecting every one.
Another teacher, T Akali Kibami explained about the changes in syllabus, which has three development goals namely children maintain good health and wellbeing, children become effective communicators and children become involved learners.
She further sought support from the parents to make the students become good human beings.
Education coordinator of Kushiabill, Keviseu Zutso, informed informed that under the new education system children are taught with more activities unlike in the past. She further described the present form of educating the children as real education as it involves the children to think and participate in the process rather than just copy paste what the teachers taught.
The chairperson of Diphupar Naga Women Organisation (DNWO), Khriezovenuo, has asked the parents to attend PTM which would be held regularly.
GMS NAP Sector in Shamator district and GHS Sahuboto under Aghunato EBRC in Zunheboto district have also joined in the mega parent-teacher meeting.
