Dr. Joseph in his address appreciated the diversity and multi-cultural, multi-lingual and multi-religious set up of Salesian College of Higher Education, an update stated.
He also pointed out that the Constitution on India guarantees cultural rights to each citizen and the need to respect and promote cultural diversity.
The audience was enthralled with presentation of cultural items from Kuki community, remix of different Naga cultural dances, couple display of various Naga cultural attires, Adivasi dance and songs from the Sumi community.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]Earlier, Principal of SCHE, Fr. Dr. Paul Punii in his welcome address said the celebration of ‘Cultural Day’ is a celebration of the progress of humanity in various fields. Fr. Punii said “while celebrating our cultural diversity, we must promote respect and love for one another.”
He also placed on record that SCHE may be “one exceptional college” in Nagaland which has the most variety of tribes and communities, totaling 30.
Besides Nagaland, the staff and students hail from most states of North-East India, and other parts of the country like Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
The programme, organised by IQAC & Students Forum of SCHE, commenced with an invocation prayer led by Fr. Thomas VA, Director of SCHE, and cultural secretary, SCHE Students’ Forum, Peter Khing, proposed vote of thanks.
