DIMAPUR — Salesian College of Higher Education celebrated literary day on August 31 with the theme “Around the world: humanities edition”.

The event aimed to explore, acknowledge, and embark on a journey across cultures, histories, and philosophies through the lens of art, said the college in a press release.

The event was attended by Kevethito Rose, EAC Chümoukedima, as the special guest, and artiste Abdon Mech, an alumnus of the college.

Speaking on the occasion, Rose encouraged the students to prioritise others before themselves, citing St. Paul’s teachings. He referred to Jesus as the most revolutionary person in the world and urged the students to recommit to service, following His example, to bring out the best in themselves.

The principal, Dr. Fr. Paul Punii, described the Bible as a library in its own right, encompassing a range of literary genres. He further highlighted that the Bible has profoundly influenced the world.

The event also included declamation, solo performances, a multi-lingual poetry slam, cinematic dance, haiku poetry, photography, fancy dress, an art exhibition, and a friendly volleyball match between Salesian College of Higher Education and Eastern Christian College.
