DIMAPUR, JANUARY 13

IN defiance to the recent Sumi Hoho decision to severe ties with NSCN (IM) following December 21 incident at Aghuito and subsequent Mukalimi episode in Zunheboto district, Sumi Aphuyemi Kukami Hoho (SAKH) has decided and pledged to give support to the Naga issue in the greater interest of the Nagas in general and the Sumis in particular, while it has also strongly denounced action of the Sumi volunteers during the three day siege.Speaking to this Reporter, SAKH president Suhoje Kiho (GB) reiterated that ongoing Indo-Naga peace process should not be derailed at this juncture. He said SAKH will support any Naga national group whichever is involved in the peace talks with the Government of India. He, therefore, said SAKH has decided and pledged to give support to the Naga issue in the greater interest of the Nagas in general and the Sumis in particular.
The decision to this effect was taken during a consultation meeting of the SAKH at Ghathashi town on January 4 to review the recent outburst following the incident that occurred at Aghuito on December 21. It may be mentioned here that on December 21, three NSCN (IM) cadres had committed criminal activities upon the driver of Sumo passenger car and two lady passengers including a missionary.
The members who attended the meeting had vehemently condemned the incident and felt that the gruesome aftermath could have been avoided if the NSCN authority accepted the demand of the public on time.
Meanwhile, in a press statement issued by its president Suhoje Kiho, SAKH has clarified its stand in regard to physical non-cooperation to the Sumi volunteers during the three siege on NSCN (IM) of ZB Battalion at Mukalimi designated camp.
Referring to customary practice, SAKH said no group or individual have the right to attack enemy without the consent of the rightful landowner.
SAKH has also strongly denounced the action of the Sumi volunteers at Mukalimi village terming it as ‘truly uncalled for’ as they had disregarded Sumi Aphuyemi which was evident by the threatening acts to the neighbouring villages.
The most heinous and intolerable act of the Sumi volunteers, SAKH alleged was human excreta in the living room of a GB of Mukalimi, besides other destructive acts by the volunteers.
Meanwhile, it stated that the meeting has authorized SAKH, the apex organization of Sumi Aphuyemi, to convene a general meeting at Pughoboto headquarters at the earliest.
