DIMAPUR — Sainik School Punglwa celebrated its 16th Founders’ Day on Saturday with Deputy Inspector General, ARTC Sukhovi, Brig. SK Sheoran as the chief guest of the annual event.

The event began with the lighting of the lamp of knowledge and the release of the school’s half-yearly news letter ‘Voice of Young Warriors of Morung,’ an update stated.

The chief guest in his address stressed upon the indispensable role of the parents, teachers and students in bringing out quality education. Sheoran advised the students to be sincere and know the value of time. He also iterated that they should have a clear goal, dream big and work hard in order to achieve success.

Group Captain RK Yadav, the Principal of SS Punglwa, in his welcome address, briefed the invitees and the parents on the latest achievement and infrastructural development of the school such as the NDA Motivational Hall and Girls’ Hostel.

The principal expressed his gratitude to Sainik School Society and the State Government for providing full support and cooperation in smooth functioning of the school.

The main attraction of the day was the cultural programme, which included mime depicting the importance of saving water and patriotism, staged by the cadets.

The function was also attended by Old Boys Association (OBA) of Nagaland, dignitaries, parents and village heads.

On the occasion, Brig SK Sheoran gave away the Best Academic Award to Cdt. Shashi Kumar, Best Sportsman of the Year to Cdt. Laljangam Singson and Best Officer-Like Quality Award to Cdt. Pauku Meru.

Best over-all trophy also known as Cock House Trophy for the academic year 2022-2023 in sub-junior and junior categories were bagged by Patkai House and Japfu House, respectively. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Tsonga Semp, PGT English.
