Sainik School conducts cross country competition

[caption id="attachment_280962" align="aligncenter" width="565"] Lt Col M Kiran Meitei flagging off the Inter-house Cross-Country Competition of Sainik School Punglwa on Saturday, November 2.[/caption] Dimapur, Nov. 2 (EMN): The Inter-house Cross-Country Competition of Sainik School Punglwa was flagged off by chief guest Lt Col M Kiran Meitei on Saturday, November 2. Cross country run is an annual mega event that tests an individual’s mental and physical robustness, stated an update received here on Saturday. It also offers an ideal opportunity for an individual to develop a high degree of perseverance, endurance and determination which are indispensible for Officer Like Qualities (OLQ) in the cadets. In this event, cadets of different houses were categorised in three groups. Group A comprising of class VI and VII, Group B comprising of class VIII and IX and Group C comprising of class X and XI. The competition was run for a distance of three km, five km and seven km respectively as per the categories. In Group A category, Cdt S Rito secured first position whereas in Group B Cdt Sukmeshwar stood first. In Group C Cdt Tsering Sonam secured the first position. Patkai house emerged the overall winner of the competition followed by Japfu house and Saramati house in the second and third position respectively. Speaking at the post presentation ceremony, the chief guest complimented all the winners and participants and stated that in a cross country run, the participation and completion is very important; and that it is not the strength of the knees but the mental strength that takes one to the finish point. The chief guest presented the trophy and medals to all the winners.
