Sainik school celebrates Republic Day

Dimapur, Jan. 27 (EMN):
Sainik School Punglwa (SSP) commemorated the 69th Republic Day in remembering and honouring the great patriots and martyrs whose supreme sacrifice and untiring effort gave the nation the constitution which enabled self-governance and self-determination.

Group Captain Sharad R Keskar, the school principal, graced the occasion as the chief guest and unfurled the tri-colour and inspected the parade. In his short speech, the chief guest dwelt on the importance of the day and how a cadet can contribute to build the nation. He paid tributes to the visionaries and martyrs of the country who have made India proud.

The chief guest also reminded the students to meticulously perform their duties to the country.

The parade contingent was lead by the school cadet captain Tokhou Humtsoe. Cadets Kalom Taggu and Kohang Guing delivered speeches in Hindi and English respectively, recalling the glorious history of the Republic of India while cadets of Classes VII and VIII sang patriotic songs. As part of the Republic Day celebration, drill competition was held amongst the six mother houses. In the competition, Japfu House secured the first position and lifted the trophy.

Meanwhile, contingent consisting of 24 cadets of Class IX lead by cadet Lenmin Perme of Class X represented the school in the district level Republic Day celebration in Peren. The contingent stood first amongst the many schools that participated in the event.
