Saikhom Tikendra Singh appointed new president of BJP Manipur Pradesh

Imphal, June 2 (EMN): Chief spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Manipur Pradesh, Saikhom Tikendra Singh has been appointed as the new president of BJP Manipur Pradesh.

BJP National General Secretary and headquarters in-charge Arun Singh issued an organisational appointment letter in this regard on Tuesday.

“BJP National president Jagat Prakasjh Nadda has appointed Prof S Tikendra Singh as the state president of Manipur BJP,” says the appointment letter which was made available here. “This appointment comes into immediate effect.”

Singh, who is one of the best orators in most of the platforms including public discourse and TV discussions, is a resident of Nambol Sabal Leikai in Manipur’s Bishnupur district.

The 68-year-old former philosophy teacher who joined BJP in 1994 said, he had worked for the growth of the party in the state since the last 25 years in different capacities.

He was the vice-presidents of the state unit for 13 years till 2012. Presently he is the chief spokesperson of Manipur BJP and chairman of state disciplinary action committee.

Congratulating Tikendra on being appointed as party’s state unit president, State Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Tuesday tweeted, “Congratulations to Prof S Tikendra Singh on being appointed President of @BJP4Manipur. With his rich and long experience as a karyakarta of @BJP4India the party will surely progress under his leadership.”

Prof Tikendra will replace the current Manipur BJP president Kh Bhavananda who is currently the Rajya Sabha MP. A reception function of the newly appointed president is likely to be held at its party office at Cachipur in the outskirt of Imphal on Wednesday afternoon.
