Sagang wakes up to climate change campaign

[dropcap]R[/dropcap]esidents of Sagang, the oldest village of the Churachandpur district which was dominated by the Kom community, today woke up to the issues relating to the climate change and its impact on the livelihood of the people.
The feeling of belongingness of the natural resources was also widely discussed during the day long public campaign cum awareness on climate change held at the sagang community hall, about 60 km south of Imphal in Manipur’s Churachandpur district today.Besides village leaders of Sagang Bazar, Sagang village authority, Lalumbung village authority, Theikakbi village authority, N tampak village authority, Samulamlan village authority, chairman and pastors of SABCF, the president of Kom Rem Union Manipur Lalkhomang Serto, Project manager of Centre for Social Development Babycha Mangsatabam, Journalist Sobhapati Samom also attended as the presidium members of the campaign which was organised by North East Dialogue Forum,3 Samaritan Resource Centre, New Life Foundation-SAC Moirang.
Most of the speakers in the day’s campaign shared their knowledge on the climate change and its impact to the people of Manipur particularly those living in the rural Manipur. Later, a public rally to spread awareness on climate change was also held at the Sagang bazar.
