Ahmedabad, June 20 (PTI): The officials of city crime branch today arrested Sadhvi Jayshree Giri, an accused in a cheating case who was on a run since last one week, from the outskirts of Udaipur in Rajasthan. She had escaped from the police custody on June 14 from a mall in the city. “We have arrested Sadhvi Jayshree Giri from a toll booth near Udaipur city in Rajasthan today. We are now bringing her back,” said a senior crime branch official. Sadhvi, who once served as the head of Mukteshwar Mahadev Math in Banaskantha district, was arrested by the district police in January this year in a cheating case and later sent to the Sabarmati Central jail here by the court. On June 4, she was granted 10-days parole under police escort by the Gujarat High Court on health ground. On June 14, when she was supposed to surrender, she escaped from a mall, where she came with a woman constable. Later, police arrested the woman constable and five others on the charge of helping Sadhvi escape and launched a hunt to nab her.
