DIMAPUR — SAARTHI, awareness activities on wheels under Mission Parivar Vikas, were held in Niuland areas and Medziphema areas on August 22 and 23 respectively.
An update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Dimapur, stated that the awareness activities were conducted to sensitise the communities on the various choices of family planning methods made available by the government. The choices of family planning included both temporary and permanent methods.
It stated that the awareness emphasised on birth spacing method of family planning, where a couple could decide the intervals of pregnancies and number of children they want by using temporary methods such as the use of condoms, copper T insertion and contraceptive pills.
The beneficiaries were informed that various family planning methods are available free of cost in all government health centres. It further stated that IEC materials, condoms and contraceptive pills were also distributed during the awareness campaign.
