RUSA to be implemented from next academic session

KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 21

Nagaland Parliamentary Secretary for Higher Education and SCERT, Deo Nukhu today said that Rashtriya Ucchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) would be implemented from the next academic session in the state.Revealing this during the inaugural function of the 2-day conference for Principals of Government Colleges on the theme “Envision, Inspire, Excel” as the chief guest here today, he therefore called upon the heads of the institutions to work out to make the Naga youths prepared for a proper perspective.
Maintaining that principals are parents for hundreds of students in the respective colleges, he said they have to work towards enhancing the capabilities of the Naga youths not only in studies but also other vocational education like music and sports, which could be used as excellence in future, providing them opportunities in building up the skills of the students.
He also stressed on the need to quality education and training the students to become employable and capable for the betterment of Naga society.
Nukhu also announced that Kohima Science College would be an autonomous college from the next academic session and would be introducing Post Graduate courses in science stream. On the other hand, he said that Kohima College would be having a separate lab for English Language.
Therefore, he said it all depends on the principals of colleges to improve the quality of Higher Education in the state.
Further, he also asserted that the state government would do its best to provide the needed support for enhancement of Higher Education in the State.
Commissioner and Secretary Higher Education, F.P Solo chairing the programme informed that it was held every year exclusively for Government Colleges Principals to discuss the future of Higher Education.
Joint Director, Megono Liegise tendered the vote of thanks while Principal Mt. Tiyi College Wokha Dr. Apeni Lotha, pronounced the invocation. Ajeen Longchari added more colours to the programme by presenting a special number.
The agendas for discussion taken up are: performance of government colleges, result analysis and NAAC while on the second day it would discuss on role of DDO on financial management.
