Dimapur, Nov. 28 (EMN): Integrated Extension Training Centre (IETC) conducted a six-day skill training of rural youth (Stry) on “Vermicompost” from November 23 to the 28th at SAMETI training hall.
The training was organized in collaboration with the State Agricultural Management and Training Institute (SAMETI), Medziphema, and MANAGE, Hyderabad. Skill training of rural youth (STRY) aims at imparting skill-based training to rural youth on agri-based vocational areas to promote employment in rural areas.
An update from IETC stated that the six-day training programme was focused on the importance of vermicompost as an important component of organic farming in Nagaland.
The resource persons of the training were lecturers and officers from IETC, Bio-control lab, Medziphema and Bio-fertilizer Lab, Medziphema. The technical session covered various topics on vermicompost. The training also included a visit to vermicomposting unit at Bio-Control Lab, Medziphema, where officers and staff gave a detailed practical explanation of the whole process of vermicomposting.
The moderator and chairperson of the training programme was Dr. Bendangmenla Tzudir, AI, while the inaugural keynote address was delivered by Dr. Beremjungla, in-charge of Bio-control Lab, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Seyievelo Sono, lecturer.
It stated that the closing remarks at the valedictory function and vote of thanks was delivered by Kikatemjen, AO.
It further stated that feedbacks were received from the trainees and certificates were distributed to all the participants. Altogether, 16 rural youth participated in the six-day training programme.
