Eighteen-year old Ruopfuzhano Whiso, the reigning Miss Nagaland 1st runner-up will be representing the state at the FBBcolour Miss Femina India 2018 scheduled to held in the month of June this year.

The FBBcolour Miss Femina India 2018 will be held in Mumbai.

Beauty and Aesthetics Society of Nagaland (BASN) sent five contestants to compete with other beauties from the Northeast states at the FBB Colours Femina Miss India East Zone audition organised by Miss India Organisation at Big Bazaar, City Square, Guwahati in Assam on March 11.

Among others, Whiso was selected and crowned as the FBB Colours Femina Miss India Nagaland 2018. In preparation for the big event, Whiso has already undergone grooming classes from March 18 till the 22nd in Kolkata.

During a press conference held at Symphony Cafe on April 6, BASN officials informed that Whiso will be further trained and groomed along with the other contestants from the east zone by Indian actress and renowned model, Pooja Chopra who was crowned Femina Miss India in the year 2009. She was also one of the semi-finalists and won ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ award at Miss World 2009 at Johannesburg in South Africa.

Also, the BASN officials informed that currently Whiso is engaged in various projects promoting tourism and the culture of the state and Beauty with a purpose project – a routine expected of any beauty queen wherein she is trying to instil the value of dignity of labour among the youths.

Sharing her experience at FBB Colours Femina Miss India East Zone audition, Whiso who has just appeared her HSSLC exam from Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Kohima said that the competition has been tough with more experienced participants from other states.

However, with confidence, she said that her simplicity, the drive to learn new things and to never back down from any adversity helped her through the journey.

Whiso shared that the experiences she gained since she was crowned Miss Nagaland 1st runner-up in 2017 till date has literally changed her life driving her to want to learn and grow more.

When asked if her modelling career would hamper her studies in the future, the confident and graceful Whiso said, ‘beauty pageant makes me happy and it defines who I am’ while expressing that she would pursue her studies too and that she has the confidence to manage both.

Also, she informed that she will be presenting an Angami traditional song with tati during the talent round at the Femina Miss India 2018.

With the experiences that she has gained over the years, former FBBcolours Miss India Nagaland, Kaheli Chophy opined that Nagaland still is lagging far behind in modelling career because of lack exposure and lack of support from the people.

Chophy who will be mentoring and grooming Whiso at home said that the competition at the national level gets tougher each year with more experienced contestants from other parts of the country who are well groomed and trained with vast exposures.

Whiso has appealed all to support and follow her in instagram, twitter and facebook at ruopfu_whiso and Ruopfuzhano Whiso.

Despite lack of support in any form from the state government and the people back home, BASN has been consistently sponsoring and guiding the talented beauties through various platforms both home and outside.

This is the second time that the society has sponsored state beauty queens to represent the state at national level.

The officials has appealed all those in the entertainment industry and the general public to extend their help, support and knowledge Miss Whiso, who has the potential to bring pride and laurels to the state.
