‘Run for Cleanliness’ rally held in Kohima

[caption id="attachment_132698" align="alignleft" width="550"] Participants seen during the ‘Run for Cleanliness’ rally in Kohima on Monday.[/caption] Dimapur, August 15 (EMN): The Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Kohima in collaboration with the Urban Development Swachh Bharat Mission, organised a rally based on “Run for cleanliness” under the banner,” My district, my responsibility” on August 14 at Kohima. The main objective in organizing the rally was to enable all citizens to become more sensible on the need of cleanliness especially in common places. T-shirts were distributed to all who have participated in marking the event. The rally began from Razhü Point and concluded at T. T Indoor stadium. After the rally the participants took the initiative in cleaning the surroundings of the stadium. 57 members from NYK Kohima, Catalyst, Good Shepherd, The Quasar, Maimi Heat, Wiggle FC, Kezekevi, Zeal Sporting, Kohima Anime and Dzüvürü Youth Organisation participated in the rally. After the rally, the NYK Kohima visited the Kohima Orphanage Home and distributed t-shirts to give awareness on the importance of cleanliness. The NYK also distributed pamphlets and bookmarks to around 400 households creating awareness on the pros and cons of open defecation which is a threat to different diseases. The event was conducted to achieve its objective “Freedom from filthiness.”
