Dimapur, Nov. 19 (EMN): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has said that the “rudderless and paralysed” allegation levelled by the Naga People’s Front (NPF) at the former was simply a case of the opposition party “speaking about its own leadership”. In a statement issued on Tuesday, the NDPP maintained that the state of affairs under the NPF-led DAN government from 2014-2018 will go down the annals of history as the darkest period of Nagaland. “The people were denied any form of governance because of the constant tussle for power within the NPF; and it was during this period, Nagaland also witnessed the worst law and order situation in the history of the state wherein the people rose up against their government since the leadership of that time refused to hear the voice of the people. “With such an infamous legacy credited to them, the NPF should be the last ones to be attacking the PDA government for ‘negligence’ and being ‘rudderless and paralysed’, but rather, play a supporting and proactive role as a responsible opposition party especially at this crucial juncture when all Nagas are anxiously awaiting the inking of the solution to the Naga political issue,” read the statement. It went on to state that the NPF, in its attempt to earn brownie points, has even trained its guns at the governor’s office. “As a respectable party it is expected that the August office of the governor should be kept out of party politics. The NDPP leaves it to the people of Nagaland to judge the wisdom and maturity of the NPF leadership,” it added. The NDPP-led PDA is firm on fulfilling its commitments to the people and will not allow false and fabricated allegations of a frustrated opposition party to derail its promises, the party asserted. “There is no question of the council of ministers resigning on the grounds of immature statements of the NPF. The PDA government is mandated by the people of the state and will continue to serve the people with sincerity and commitment,” read the statement.
