Bengaluru, Jan. 16 (EMN): Renowned director SS Rajamouli, whose film “RRR” is in the limelight after winning the award for Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu at the Golden Globes 2023 and two awards -- Best Song and Best Foreign Film -- at the Critics Choice Awards, as well as making it to the Oscars 2023 contention list, is being haunted by a comment he made on Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan more than a decade ago.
"When ‘Dhoom 2’ released two years ago, I wondered why only Bollywood can make such quality films. Don't we have heroes like Hrithik Roshan? I just saw the songs, poster and trailer of Billa, and I can only say one thing. Hrithik Roshan is nothing in front of Prabhas. I'd like to thank Meher Ramesh (director) for taking Telugu cinema to Hollywood level," said Rajamouli at Telugu film event several years ago.
However, the old video clip has resurfaced and gone viral on the internet, disappointing Hrithik Roshan fans.

Following this, Rajamouli has clarified and put an end to the controversy while admitting that he could have chosen better words.
“It was long, long back - I think some 15-16 years back. But yeah, my choice of words of mine wasn't good, I must admit it. My intention was never to degrade him, I respect him a lot. It is long back," he said on the red carpet of the New York Film Critics Circle Awards.
Many have hailed Rajamouli for admitting to his mistake rather than defending himself or giving lame excuses about the issue.
"I love that he admitted and gave a straight answer. Most of the people would've tried to dodge it," a netizen commented.
"But he admitted his mistake. That's mighty of him," said another user.
