RPF recovers contraband worth INR 35.49 lakh

Dimapur, May 29 (EMN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of N.F. Railway has intercepted the ways of smuggling of contraband goods and recovered narcotics and cannabis valued at INR 35.49 lakhs in between May 20 to 26 stated the chief public relations officer, NF Railway in Maligaon in a press note.

In one such case on May 20, a team of RPF based at Guwahati recovered 500 grams of morphine in plastic package valued at INR 35 lakhs (approx). The packets were thrown away by some unidentified persons from the Train No. 12423 DN (Rajdhani Express) while the train was leaving Guwahati railway station. Later, the unclaimed morphine was handed over to Government Railway Police/Guwahati and a case was registered.

In another case on May 21, a RPF team of Hojai under Lumding Division recovered 4 packets of cannabis weighing about 7 kgs while conducting a routine check in Train No. 12526 (Dibrugarh-Kolkata Express). The recovered cannabis was valued at INR 49000 (approx).
