RPF apprehends one for sedating railway passengers in Dimapur

DIMAPUR — The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Northeast Frontier (NF) Railway apprehended an individual at Dimapur railway station on March 26 for engaging in activities related to sedating railway passengers.

According to a press release, the team recovered 20 suspected sedative drugs, along with biscuit packets, cash, a cold drink bottle, and a phone, from the possession of the apprehended person. Later, the individual was handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP), Dimapur for further action.

It also mentioned a series of drives the RPF conducted on railway territory, as well as the recovery of ganja weighing more than 91 kg and worth approximately INR 9.19 lakh in its jurisdiction. The contraband items were recovered during regular checks and drives conducted on March 27 and 28 on different trains and at stations.

On March 28, a joint team of RPF and GRP Agartala, along with the IT cell, Lumding, apprehended two individuals during regular checks and drives at Agartala railway station. The team seized 39 kg of ganja, valued at approximately INR 3.90 lakh, which was concealed in four bags.

In another incident on the same day, the Rangiya RPF team recovered 15.5 kg of unclaimed ganja worth INR 1.55 lakh (approximately) from train No. 12520 DN (Agartala – Lokmanya Tilak). Later, the apprehended person and the recovered ganja were handed over to the appropriate GRP posts in Agartala and Rangiya for further action.

Similarly, on March 27, the RPF teams of Agartala and Dharmanagar recovered around 37.4 kg of ganja while conducting regular checks at their respective railway stations. One person was apprehended at Agartala railway station, while the recovery at Dharmanagar station went unclaimed.

The recovered contraband goods were valued at above INR 3.74 lakh (approximately). Subsequently, both the recoveries and the apprehended person were handed over to their respective GRP posts in Agartala and Dharmanagar for further action.
