Royal Strikers Tsumang retains Winter Cricket Challenge

Wokha, Jan. 8 (EMN): Royal Striker’s Tsumang retained the 22nd edition of Winter Cricket Challenge after defeating two time champions EYL CC by 39 runs on Monday at Wokha.
Royal Striker’s set a target of 149 runs to win with man of the tournament and man of the match Saibal scoring 53 important runs while Ananda (30), Debojit (22) and Sidarth (15) helped in posting a decent total.
Wabang and Renjamo of EYL CC took two wickets while Rhondemo and Alamo claimed a wicket each.
Chasing a target of 149 runs EYL CC were restricted to score freely in the first 6 overs by Royal Strikers bowlers and fielders. Elithung scored 15 runs, Nzanthung and Nchumthung 14 runs each while Lirenthung, Renjamo and Tsenpon contributed 12 runs could muster only 109 runs in 20 overs for EYL CC.
Sidarth, Debojit, Mirthul, Vickey, Laxman and Renben of Royal Striker’s Tsumang claimed a wicket each.
Earlier before the final match of WCC, a charity match was played between Board President XI vs District Administrative XI where District Administrative XI won the match by five wickets.
Board President XI after winning the toss decided to bat first and scored 135 runs in 15 overs. Wojanthung (39), Nemichand (34) and Penthungo (16) were the notable contributors for Board President.
The District Administrative XI was successful in chasing the target with Bharat Laxman Markad, IPS, SP Wokha with his willow stroked a magnificent 54 runs with one 6 and seven 4’s while Ashish SIB (IN) Wokha collected 29 runs with four 4’s and two 6’s.
Mixed cricket was witnessed at the charity match where Jane Patton played alongside of Board President XI claimed a wicket while bowling.
Meanwhile the organisers informed that the charity match played before the final match helped in collecting a cash amount of INR 37,000 which will be officially handed over to Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon (IAS), DC Wokha on Jan. 9 to help the patient of Wokha District Hospital and destitute Home.
Royal Striker’s Tsumang walked home with a cash prize of INR 75,000 with certificates while EYL CC received INR 30,000 and certificates. Semifinalist GAPYOCC and Lancer CC were awarded cash prize of INR 5,000 each along with certificates.

Man of the match (final) – Saibal Ghose (53 runs not-out) of Royal Striker’s Tsumang
Highest wicket taker – Vickey of Royal Striker’s Tsumang and Alam of EYL CC with 11 wickets each.
Best wicketkeeper – Nchumbemo Humtsoe of Renegades CC
