Rotavirus vaccine launched in Diphu

Our Correspondent Diphu, June 15 (EMN): Rotavirus vaccine was inaugurated by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Secretary Nirola Phangchopi on June 14 at Diphu Civil Hospital. The Rotavirus vaccine is to prevent Diarrhea in infants. Joint Director Dr. Rongpipi said the Rotavirus vaccine prevents Diarrhea in infants which are a leading cause of infant’s mortality. This Vaccine is not given in the form of an injection. It is given as drops like that of polio vaccine. The Vaccine is given to infants of 6 weeks old, 10 weeks old and 14 weeks old. The vaccine will not be given in schools. The Vaccine will be three drops and will be administered by ANM and doctors. The formal launching of the vaccine was attended by Joint Director of Health Services Dr. Kareng Rongpipi, District Immunisation Officer Dr. Durgeswar Ingti, Dr. Borsing Rongpi and other health officials and workers.
