Rotary Club Dimapur to organise free prosthetic hand fitting camp
DIMAPUR— Rotary Club of Dimapur will organise a free LN4 prosthetic hand fitting camp (project Saksham) for persons with upper limb disability on June 3 at Rotary Centre, Midland, from 7:30 an onward.
An update from the club informed that more than 50 persons have registered for the free prosthetic hand camp, which is being organised by Rotary Club of Dimapur (RID 3240) and Rotary Club of Calcutta Presidency (RID 3291, West Bengal). It added that Rotary Clubs of Kohima, Mokokchung, Imphal, Polo City Imphal, Golaghat, Jorhat, Akhil Bhartiya Marwari Mahila Sammelan, Golaghat branch and District Disability Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC), Dimapur, have joined hands to identify beneficiaries.
It stated that LN4 below elbow prosthetic hand would be provided to the beneficiaries without any charges.
“Activities of daily living that include eating with a spoon, writing using a pen, riding a bicycle are some of the basic utilities. It is light weight and just weighs 450 gm,” the release stated.
It informed that with the use of prosthetic hand, one can lift objects weighing up to 4 kg. It stated that a minimum four inches of stump below the elbow is a prerequisite.
It stated that a technical team of rotarians from RC Calcutta Presidency comprising Sangita Jain, chairperson of Saksham; Ranjan Musaddi (mentor), Abha Lunia, Rajesh Bothra, Saswati Mukherjee, Rashmi Surana and Anju Singhee would be present to oversee the fitting of hands.
The president of Rotary Club of Dimapur, Manish Jain, informed that the camp is being sponsored by the Kashliwal family of Dimapur in memory of late Kailash Chand Kasliwal and late Phuli Devi Kasliwal.
It further stated that advisor of Law and Justice and Land Development, TN Mannen, would be the chief guest, and the deputy commissioner of Dimapur, Sachin Jaiswal, would be the guest of honour.
