DIMAPUR — Rose’s new heart-wrenching single “Number One Girl” has crossed 12 million views on YouTube in less than 24 hours after it was released on Friday, November 22. The sentimental ballad marks the second single of her upcoming debut album Rosie, which is set to release on December 6.
The BLACKPINK star released the first single — “APT” featuring Bruno Mars last month – of her solo album last month. The song, which is about a Korean drinking game, went on to become a chart-topper, staying at number one on the Billboard Global 200 chart for the last four weeks.
Rose wears a sad look in the self-directed “Number One Girl” music video, exposing her vulnerability and her yearning to be loved.
“Isn’t it lonely
I’d do anything to make you want me
I’d give it all up if you told me
That I’d be
The number one girl in your eyes,” goes the lyrics of “Number One Girl”.
“Tell me that you need me
Tell me that I’m loved
Tell me that I’m worth it
And that I’m enough
I need it and I don’t know why
This late at night,” it continues.
Giving an insight about the inspiration behind her new solo single “Number One Girl”, Rose told Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe in an interview that the song was written after reading hate comments on social media.
However, she shared this on Instagram: ‘Number One Girl is out now. This one is for every girl (and boy) who dreams to be somebody’s number one’.
The 27-year-old singer is all set to release her first studio album “Rosie” on December 6 ahead of the much-anticipated BLACKPINK reunion in 2025.
“I cannot believe I am finally announcing my first album release to you all. I remember last year as our year-long tour ended, I found myself in a session out here in Los Angeles. That led on to a year of walking in and out of the studio, writing songs with songwriters and producers I’d met for the first time, trying to figure out the next chapter in my career. I fell asleep many nights feeling confused and lost,” she had earlier shared on social media.
“I have poured my blood and tears into this album. I cannot wait for you to listen to this little journal of mine. Rosie – is the name I allow my friends and family to call me. With this album, I hope you all feel that much closer to me,” she added.
Rose’s new album Rosie will have 12 tracks namely: “APT” (feat. Bruno Mars)”, “Number One Girl”, “Game Boy”, “Drinks or Coffee”, “Two Years”, “Too Bad for Us”, “3 AM”, “Stay a Little Longer”, “Call It The End”, “Not the Same”, “Toxic Till the End” and “Dance All Night”.
