Rongmei Baptist Church celebrates golden jubilee

Kohima, Feb. 22 (EMN): The Rongmei Baptist Church of Kohima (RBCK) celebrated its golden jubilee themed on 1 Corinthians 15:57: ‘But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.’ The event was conducted on Saturday at lower PWD in Kohima.

Speaking during the occasion, Rev. Dingshungngamang Kamei, administrative assistant at Nagaland Baptist Church Council, expressed happiness in celebrating together the 50th anniversary of the church blessed by the Almighty since its inception.

In his message, Kamei said the golden jubilee celebration is a huge landmark but the work of the church grows bigger in its mission to win more souls for the Lord. He said ‘worldly ailments can be cured but only God can cure us spiritually.’

Performances from the members of the jubilee choir, Sunday school department, women’s fellowship of the RBCK, and Gaichanglungliu G Kamai marked the celebration.

Earlier, the jubilee celebrations commenced with a commemorative flag being hoisted by Rev. HM Gonmei, executive director of Greater Life Mission, and blessings of the monolith from Guithiuliu Gaiduwan Kamei, after which Sunday school children released balloons to mark the event. 

Past and currently serving pastors, deacons, Sunday school teachers, and leaders of the RBCK besides delegates from various churches were acknowledged with gifts.

The jubilee programme started with worship songs led by the event’s music committee, and an invocation prayer said by Rev. Gaidim Kamei, pastor of RBCBC.

A jubilee feast was followed by an evening programme during which guest speaker Pouhourei Gangmei, pastor in charge of RBF at Chumukedima in Dimapur, spoke.
